About the Business
With new installations favouring “under floor heating”, Abingwood have developed their expertise in this direction, with overlay strip being an ideal and stable hardwood floor on new screed with heating pipes laid under supplying an even ambient temperature. Not all hardwoods are suitable for laying over U/F heating but we have the experience to guide our clients who include some developers of large prestigious new build as well as normal domestic conversions. We have also undertaken Heritage work and other listed building projects.
There are a large range of options of styles and woods, oak being the most prolific, but ranging from black American walnut, jatoba, maple and many more exotic hardwoods, which can be presented in different formats, including planking with wide board, herringbone, Versaille panels , chevron and parquetry inserts for logos, initials and insignia.
Being so flexible also means we can tailor the finish to suit the client; different colours of stain and oil are available to complement the surrounding finishes and furniture. Oils and lacquers are used but in the long term oil allows for refinishing and repairs without having to resort to sanding down and reducing the wear layer, thereby extending the life of the floor and reducing ongoing costs. Full after care advice and service is part of our professional ongoing commitment to maintain your new floor.
