About the Business
There are two basic types of wood flooring to choose from, solid or engineered. The "engineered" product has a surface of premium hardwood bonded to a laminated base. This construction counteracts wood's tendency to shrink and expand and makes it easier to lay. Solid products are available in planks, strips or parquet. An extensive variety of woods are used for flooring giving a wide range of colours and textures which form the perfect base for any décor.
Wood floors can be used throughout your home; we particularly recommend them for all reception rooms, studies, hallways.Modern protective finishes make wood flooring more practical than ever. There is no need for special polishes and buffing. To keep them in good shape all that is needed is a soft broom or vacuum cleaner.
Essentially all laminates are composed of three layers, a surface layer, a core layer and a backing layer. These layers are fused together under extreme heat and pressure to form a hardwearing board. Colour and pattern of the board result from a printed photograph included in the surface layer. Because of the photographic technology used to produce the board's pattern and colour laminate flooring is available in a wide variety of styles with few limitations. Wood and stone effects are very popular but are by no means the only finishes available.
