Wood floors can be installed on top of existing wood floors, onto battened concrete surfaces, as well as glued directly to existing screeded floors. Many of today's flooring systems are specially designed to meet almost everyone's needs, both in thickness, length, colour and width. They can come as a pre-sealed system or as a raw item that can be sanded and sealed during the process. Generally with the traditional strip and block floors certain aspects have to be taken into consideration before installing the floor. All these points are raised during a free site survey prior to you placing your order.

At Kennington Flooring, we provide three main types of wood flooring:
Solid Wood:
All flooring that is manufactured from one piece of wood is considered solid wood flooring. From the choice of species to stains and finishes, solid flooring gives you a great opportunity for customisation, enabling you to choose a truly personal wood floor. This is an excellent choice in most areas of the home from the ground floor up.
Engineered Wood:
Engineered wood flooring product consists of layers of wood pressed together, with the grains running in different directions. It is available in 3 and 5 ply. Engineered flooring is perfect for those areas of the house where solid wood flooring may not be suitable, such as basements, kitchens, powder rooms, and utility rooms. Because the grains run in different directions, it is more dimensionally stable than solid wood.
Laminate:
Laminate flooring is an extremely hard-wearing floor covering, made up of a number of varying layers. Designs have vastly improved over recent years, making it virtually impossible to tell a good quality laminate from a real wood floor once it is laid. With new finishes such as registered embossing, beveled edges, and extremely realistic textures, laminates now look as good as the real thing.
