About the Business
Shannon Sales has been established over 40 years and is set in a beautiful grade 11 listed Victorian school. The School, built in 1845, has a fine lineage, having been designed by A. W. Pugin who was jointly responsible for designing the Houses of Parliament!
My parents, Sonny and Ann Jones started Shannon Sales, calling on customers and selling from a van but soon discovered there was a gap in the market for an independent furniture and carpet store in the locality, thus bought the School in 1970, and because it had been left empty for at least 3 years it had started to become derelict. Virtually every window had been smashed and the lead had been stripped off the roof. It was only through my Dad's foresight and optimism and my Mum and Dad's hard work that it has become the store it is today.
I, personally became involved in the business in 1985. Then in 1989 my Mum decided to retire and spend time with her grandchildren leaving Dad and Myself to run the business. Up to 3 days before my Dad passed away he was still a very involved and well respected member of the team and is still missed by both staff and customers alike.
