About the Business
Steve Allenby, the owner of Top Mark Carpets, left school just before his 16th birthday and joined the army soon after…the Devon and Dorset regiment. He spent 7 years with this regiment and was lucky enough to visit many different and interesting places around the world.
After leaving the army, Steve managed to get an apprenticeship with a Dorchester flooring firm and considers himself fortunate in that he was banded around some of the best fitters in Dorset. This greatly helped him to develop his skills and knowledge in all aspects of the carpet and flooring industry.
After finishing this training, he became a sub-contractor working for many different flooring companies before starting his own. Like most firms, there is a learning curve when going it alone and changes need to be made along the way…Top Mark Carpets is a culmination of all that hard work and determination to create one of Dorset’s finest flooring companies.
One of the best business decisions that Steve made was to convince his partner, Leanne Adams, to leave a well paid job in Southampton and come to Weymouth to help run the company. Leanne brings extensive knowledge with particular emphasis on the financial side of things but also within the construction industry itself.
